My husband and I took a quick sustainable fashion trip to Tokyo via the miracle of digital illustration! Picture a beautiful chilly day, we’re taking sips of crisp light sake and munching marshmallows shaped like cartoon characters - and boom, you are there with us!

Garik Himebaugh of @yourecostylist styled my husband in sustainable men’s fashion:

  • Shirt – Organic cotton button-up shirt from Vustra. These stylish shirts are made in Fair Trade factories. Use promo code ECOSTYLIST for 30% off.

  • Blazer – This 100% wool blazer is from Outerknown. Wool is naturally antimicrobial and totally compostable.

  • Pants – Organic cotton khakis from United By Blue. United By Blue removes 1 pound of trash from our waterways for every purchase.

  • Shoes – The huarache sandal by Nisolo is handmade in Peru. Nisolo is a certified B Corporation that pays workers 27% above Fair Trade requirements on average.

I chose a luscious plaid gown from Amur’s spring 2019 collection. The plaid didn’t end up getting produced, but the solid color version is made from recycled PET, and the lining is cupro, which is a super silky fabric made from cotton waste. Amur stands for “A Mindful Use of Resources” and takes a refreshing approach to sustainable fashion; they work to design unforgettable pieces, with strong lines and tailoring, that you can’t resist but reach for over and over again.
